Deck & Fence Staining
Pine and hardwood decks, fences and pergolas. Resene Woodsman or Dulux Aquaoil — penetrating stains that don't peel.
What's involved
Decks and fences need a stain, not a paint. Paint sits on the surface and peels as the timber moves. Stain penetrates and weathers with the wood.
Pine fences and decks: Resene Woodsman, two coats, light water-blast prep. Hardwood (kwila, vitex, garapa): a thinned first coat to penetrate end-grain, then a full topcoat. Re-coat cycle is 2-3 years on sun-exposed surfaces, 4-5 years on sheltered ones.
A 60m² deck is typically 1.5-2 days for one painter. Fences priced per linear metre. We can also colour-match new staining to existing if you're staging the work in sections.
